Description

"In this novel, a new world will surprise you. A world of life in a poor, southern Indian village. It was isolated, during a time when this isolation forced the village to hang on tightly to old, obsolete traditions that date back hundreds - if not thousands - of years.

We are invited by the author, M. T. Vasudevan Nair, to go on a journey with the hero of his novel, who hails from this village where he spent his childhood and the early years of his youth. He then takes us on a trip back to the small city where he attended college. He later moves to a larger city where he worked and spent the majority of his professional life.  .

The main character of the novel, Sito, resembles most of the youth of his generation. He was brought up in a poor environment at his parents' house. He faced many obstacles and frustrations which led him from big hopes for a better life to another one filled with sadness. The author brilliantly portrays Sito's character. It is fair to say that most of the characters of this novel have been accurately described and portrayed in a way that makes you feel as though you are living with them, sensing everything that goes on in the depths of the their souls. In the end, you will ask yourself: Was Sito a selfish person who betrayed all those who loved him? Or was he simply a victim of circumstance and the frustrations he encountered at every stage of his life?"
